In antiquity, medallions were not currency, but symbols—large, crafted discs cast to honor leaders and commemorate legacy. Ornate and powerful, they were given as marks of prestige, often bearing portraits and bold imagery.

This box echoes that tradition. Built from North Carolina wood - poplar bark with graduated locust and rhododendron molding - it centers on a locust slice, evoking the timeless strength of a medallion at its heart.
